Writing
From a young age, Chandler has always been creating new stories and
plays; what started with the creation of summertime backyard circus
shows and dramatic plays has become much more. Chandler first
studied creative writing while at Cornell University, combining his
love of theatre with his love of writing. It was there that he began
developing his own particular voice. He studied professionally at
the University of St Andrews with Zinnie Harris and Olly Emanuel
where he branched out into writing for radio, television, and film
in addition to theatre.
He is particularly inspired by adaptation and re-imagination of
stories. Chandler teaches a short course titled Making Your Own
Theatre for actors and artists looking to develop their skills and
voices as writers. He loves to share his expertise with others
guiding them to develop characters and stories in their own unique
voices through exercises in physical memory, prop work, verbatim
storytelling, and imagination.
Chandler's most recent production, GLAUCUS, the story of a young man
who finds himself in an unlikely position after an artist draws him,
premiered at the Catalyst Festival in London in Summer 2021. He is
currently developing the script for a new television series set
between Georgian Scotland and India.
